Classroom Policies

Entering the Classroom
  • Please enter quietly
  • Look on the board for directions
  • Prepare for class.  Do not wait for the bell to ring to get yourself organized and ready for class.  As soon as you enter the room, you should begin to prepare for class.
  • By the time the bell rings, you should be working on your warm-up.  (Warm-Up assignments may be collected for credit.)

During Class
  • You are expected to participate in class activities and discussions.
  • During discussions or during teacher instruction, please remember to raise your hand if you would like to contribute to the discussion or if you have a question.  Do not call out or interrupt other students.
  • SHARPENING PENCILS - this should occur immediately when you enter the room before you begin warm-up.  If you need to sharpen your pencil during class, please wait until independent work is assigned.  Sharpening your pencil during instructions, discussions or lecture is NOT allowed.

Packing Up and Dismissal
  • Please do not pack up until you are told to do so.
  • You will be given plenty of time at the end of class to record your homework in your assignment notebook and to pack up.
  • The bell does not dismiss you; the teacher does!  Before you will be dismissed, the classroom should look like it did when you entered.  This means all trash must be pick up and supplies must be returned to the appropriate places.
